SPACE ODDITY

Synopsis

Eight years ago from the present time, circa 2326, an old children's folk story became a reality. A thief with the stealth of a ghost, a figure invisible to the eyes of evil, the Blue Riding Hood came to existence to steal from the rich and powerful, and create justice among the poor. A trickster thief brought into reality from folklore by a mysterious man, turned famous by countless cases of grand larceny and no record of his real identity to be found. A legend among the law and criminals alike, a myth with countless rumours, and the target of many powerful figures.

All of a sudden, the myth has disappeared. Now, Tomas B. Nebula, the man behind this mysterious hero, lives a mundane life with his best friend, a burned-out astrophysics researcher, Laura Anne Dromeda. As Tomas grows increasingly bored, so does the media, restlessly speculating where he went.

But the past isn't so easy to run from, as the familiar feeling of being watched crawls back into Tomas' life more and more as the days pass. Uneasy and paranoid, will Tomas be able to outrun his past, and prove the folk stories true?

No, of course not.

The setting

With the rise of standarized space travel, the Milky Way has quickly connected it's population across all it's solar systems. Although humans were a bit late to the party in terms of interplanetary travel, they were quick to make their presence known across the galaxy, quickly universalizing Human English for most civilizations.

As planets connect, so do rich and powerful minds, and the politics of humanity did not fall behind. It wasn't long before the Silent Century went into the history books, named after the massive loss of data and information the Milky Way suffered, after it's digital Cloud archives inevitably collapsed in bidding wars. Nowadays, planets have resorted to different solutions to prevent the crisis from hitting the Milky Way again, and a Universal Standarized Language (USL) became the secondary default to Human English across Interplanetary Train Stations and public spaces alike.

New Earth and other capital planets located near the political center of the galaxy - in other words, the Human Solar System - are the home of tons of species and cultures from all over Space. Interplanetary Trains connect New Earth with the rest of the Milky Way, allowing for human culture to reach further than ever imagined.

Great for humanity, questionable for everybody else. Despite it all, The Milky Way remains politically peaceful.

Hi and thank you for checking out this website! Space Oddity has been my dream project since I was basically a child, it's one of my biggest driving forces and a huge passion. I'm very excited to some day bring it into a reality.

A lot of the information on this website especially regarding the characters will be surface level or vague on purpose to avoid spoilers! Hope you'll come to love or hate them anyway :)
